As a Pianist . . .

Browne played flawlessly but at the same time with great feeling and delicacy. Her playing is always considerate of the singer, as if they are breathing the same air.

                                    Osnabrücker Zeitung

Incredibly exact and superbly musical!  The tone and line of Browne’s playing is beyond beautiful.

                               Südost-Tagespost (Austria)

Jean Marie Browne played with insight and great feeling and her playing was filled with pianistic temperament.               Freiburger Zeitung

One must be in awe of the manner in which Miss Browne coolly changed from the "classic" player of Lieder to the "prepared piano" player. She chose to make it a work of art and her playing was every bit as virtuosic as her command of the standard literature.         Dallas News-Park Cities

As a Conductor . . .

This was definitely a “Marriage” made in heaven. So deft and balanced was the conducting of Jean Marie Browne. Browne led a Figaro that really moved, filled with memorable accomplished arias and witty, sparkling ensembles!

                                   San Francisco Chronicle

The orchestra, led by Jean Browne, brought the audience into a happy mood, and people could be seen tapping their feet and dancing and humming afterwards.

                                   Dallas Times Herald

Another innovation for opera—a female conductor and a dynamite performance!

                                  San Francisco Chronicle

Browne moved the score along brightly and kept the pace alive!                         Phoenix Gazette

Browne put a nice lilt and refinement into her conducting, and Donizetti's deliciously mercurial ensembles rolled along lightfootedly.

                                  San Francisco Examiner

How Browne got the orchestral performance she managed Saturday from the same orchestra that was plain awful Friday night, I don't know, but she did! Jean Marie Browne's controlling but not confining conducting added up to a production that doesn't need the usual qualifications. SUSANNAH was outstanding in many ways.

                                  San Jose Mercury News

Browne conducted an evening of stunning entertainment.               Contra Costa Times

The orchestra, conducted by Jean Marie Browne, was superb!                   Cedartown Standard

[Browne] conducted the orchestra with technique and feeling.                    San Francisco Examiner
